About Me
Bio
I am an Orton Gillingham reading educator who is passionate about working with children, especially those with learning differences. I believe that learning should be engaging and specific to the individual. Patience, compassion, and enthusiasm are the foundations of my approach to supporting students. I am determined to build students’ confidence by helping them learn to read and write. I believe that every student has the chance to succeed with individualized instruction from an educator who truly cares.
I received a bachelor of science degree in strategic communications and early childhood education from the University of Kansas. I have spent over 10 years working with children in various settings and have gained experience with many learning differences such as dyslexia, autism, and auditory processing disorder.
I am motivated to do what it takes to help a child succeed. I pride myself on being a lifelong learner and continually stay up-to-date on the newest research and teaching techniques in order to provide students with the highest quality of education. I am also an active member of The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) in Minnesota.

Background and Training
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in 2018, I wasn’t sure where my career would take me. I knew my passion was working with children, specifically those with learning differences, so I explored all of my options. This is when I discovered Orton Gillingham tutoring and found my true passion. I am most fulfilled when working with students to help them reach their full potential.
Before OG, I worked with children for 10+ years and loved nurturing them as they grew through each developmental stage. Additionally, I was a Substitute Teacher in a Montessori school and a Personal Care Attendant where I gained experience with many learning differences such as Dyslexia, ADHD/ADD, OCD, Autism, Anxiety disorder, and many others.
Orton Gillingham Certification
I received Orton Gillingham training by a Fellow of the Academy. My training took place over a 10 month period with 6 students. The training included 2 sections: lecture and practicum.
